From Josh -- I developed my signature style while experimenting with palette knife scrapes in Rittenhouse square. I started painting in the fall of 2016, focusing on developing textures and abstract scapes in various color palettes. I wanted to explore the relationships of colors and understand why I was emotionally affected by these relationships. I soon started seeing faces in the textures - a phenomenon called pareidolia - and wanted others to see what I saw. So, I began outlining and pulling out the characters and developing scenes around them. This process resulted in pieces like We Drink for Science, Baseball on Gamma Beta 7, and Spelunking, and is still the process that I use to paint the majority of my work today.
